Tanuki TCG Japan was not built by a corporation. It was built by someone who has been opening booster packs since childhood, who has felt the frustration of paying inflated prices for product that may or may not be genuine and decided to do something about it.
We are collectors who got tired of buying from people who weren't.
Every collector knows the feeling. You find a Japanese booster box online at what looks like a good price. The listing looks legit. The photos look real. You order it. And when it arrives something feels off the cellophane is a little too perfect, the weight is slightly wrong, the pull rates tell a story that does not add up.
That experience is what started Tanuki TCG Japan. Not a business plan, not a market analysis a genuine frustration from someone who collects the same cards you do and wanted to find a better way.
We source everything directly from authorized Japanese distributors. No secondary markets. No resellers. No grey imports. When a box arrives at our facility it goes straight from a verified distributor to our shelves to your door nothing in between that should not be there.
The name Tanuki comes from the Japanese folklore creature the raccoon dog known for its cleverness, luck, and ability to spot a fake from a mile away. That is exactly the energy we bring to every product we source. If we would not be happy opening it ourselves, it does not go on the site.

Every incoming shipment is inspected before it goes onto our shelves. We check packaging integrity, seal authenticity, and box weight consistency. If anything does not meet our standard it does not ship — full stop.
